Aligning Outcomes, Assessments, and Activities

One of the biggest challenges in working with teachers is making sure that you understand where they are coming from. I need to be able to “walk the walk”.  I’ve been focusing on significant learning environments but have not taught a unit while addressing the new things I’ve learned. So, I wanted to develop a unit that I could use with a teacher in modeling significant learning environments as well as starting with the end assessment. Using Fink’s guide I developed a unit for 7th grade science unit on Heredity. I focused specifically on what learning activities would properly prepare the students for the final assessment of acting as genetic counselors.
